New addition to the Envoy range
One of the highlights of 2009 was the picking of the Envoy Sauvignon Blanc. After several years of vineyard and stylistic exploration, we now have a wine we think is pretty special. Selected from our oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines that are Bordeaux clonal selections, these grapes have always been quite different in flavour and palate characteristics than the rest of our vines. Extensive crop thinning and handwork in the vineyard have given great concentration, and using sensitive techniques such as handpicking and whole bunch pressing, the wine displays a degree of elegance and textural qualities suitable for a wine destined for ageing. Less overtly varietal than our Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc, the wine shows its vineyard origins clearly and gains complexity and structure from oak fermentation and aging and a significant percentage of natural fermentation. We are already looking forward to bottling the 2010 next year.
