Usually studio based, and often exhibiting outside Marlborough, this group exhibition provides a special opportunity to view work by Bridget Bidwell, Nicolas Dillon and Fran Maguire.
Bridget Bidwill is a graduate of the Ilam School of Art at the University of Canterbury and moved to Marlborough in the 1990s after city life in Auckland and Wellington. Her work blurs the line between abstract adn figurative and is reminiscent of still life, organic forms and interior. Her work is represented in many private and public collections.
Nicolas Dillon began painting birds and nature at a young age. Nic's exquisite paintings have very wide appeal. Through use of colour, subtle depiction of atmosphere and sense of light, his paintings seem to be about more than just birds. Long hours are spent in the field drawing and painting to build a close and personal contact with nature. He works in both watercolour and oils and is self taught.
Fran is a ceramic artist who started pottery night classes at the Marlborough Community Potters in 1994/5 and gave up her day job soon after. She has reached a level of excellence in her work. Famous for her domestic ware, she is currently creating stunning light-chambered clay sculptures that reflect her journey as an artist and her empathy with the environment.
