The 2007 season started with an early bud burst which increased our frost risk period by several weeks. Nature obliged and frosts were successfully battled on several occasions. Flowering and fruitset were varied as the unsettled spring continued. Early varieties showed increased variability and success was very site specific.
Gewurztraminer set was average at best while Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris were ok. Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc being slightly later were largely unaffected. Summer arrived in the New Year and vines went into verasion in good health and balance. Vintage was uneventful with all varieties coming in clean, full of flavour and physiologically ripe.
