Season Overview 2006

Blair Gibbs

After one of Marlborough's warmest winters on record, budburst arrived two weeks early and there was leaf on the first day of spring. The spring threw no surprises and phonological stages progressed catching out our Christmas Holiday plans. 80ml of rain in mid January was perfect in its timing as river irrigation sources were about to be restricted.

The vines entered verasion in perfect health with very even and balanced crop loads. Harvest began two weeks early in keeping with the season anomaly and fruit was processed clean and ripe. The vines were able to enjoy a long post harvest consolidation prior to the first Autumn frost and leaf fall.
